PROJECT MALAWI
OUR WORK ABROAD
As kindred spirits, our global commitment extends to the awareness and elimination of HIV/AIDS through empowerment and education in Malawi, Africa, one of the poorest and most impoverished nations. Our primary intent is to offer critical intervention to orphaned children in order to break the cycle of disease and poverty. Since 2012, The Hamels Foundation has worked in Malawi to build a primary school (grades 1-8) in order to empower children through education.
Children are orphaned in Malawi due to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Malawi is one of the world’s most impoverished countries. These children lack resources and proper needs for shelter and water. In order to break the cycle of HIV/AIDS and poverty, we must empower children through education.

WHAT WE’RE DOING
THE NAMUNDA PRIMARY SCHOOL
For the very first time, children have indoor classrooms with amenities that they have never dreamed of. The Namunda Primary School will serve grades 1-8, educating boys and girls in the Mulanje District of Malawi. Students will learn basic educational skills such as reading, mathematics and writing. What makes this school unique is that all students will learn a different trade each year – sewing, gardening, textiles, carpentry and more – that will allow them to finish their schooling with an array of skills and abilities to provide for themselves and their families. The Namunda Primary School is 90% complete and more than 400 students are attending school at the campus each day.
LEAVE A LEGACY
You can join our cause and make a direct impact on a child’s life by participating in our Leave A Legacy program. You can donate anywhere between $5 to $32,000 to support the purchases of various school supplies for the Namunda Primary School project in Malawi, Africa.
