In the news: Hamels Foundation hits grand slam for Philadelphia Schools!

As if we needed any more proof that the Phillies are the hottest ticket in town,more than  850 fans -double last year' s crowd-turned out for the third annual Hamels Foundation "Diamonds and Denim" gala August 11 at the Crysal Tea Room in Center City. Pitcher Cole Hamles and his wife Heidi host and hostess of the event graciously posed for red carpet photos with a long line of VIP guests and sponsors. Practically the entire Phillies team along with a slew of sports and reality TV celebrities sported denims and big smiles to support the cause.The evening also included Magician Oz Pearlman as the warm-up act for country music superstar Martina McBride. Other highlights included a silent and live auction of Phillie's  memorabilia and experiences, a raffle of Tiffany diamond jewelry and a designer jeans giveaway from Denim Habit in Suburban Square. By the end of the night it was a grand slam for the Hamels Foundation as they scored big bringing in 420k from the event. The Hamels foundation a non-profit organization founded by '08 World Series MVP Pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies,Cole Hamels and wife, Heidi. The foundation supports inner city schools in the U.S. and has given away some of the largest public school grants in Philadelphia. It is also dedicated to helping Malawi's one million orphans and victims of the AIDS/HIV virus. A primary school is currently underway in Malawi's most impoverished area. At the end of the day the Phillies are definitely keeping us proud on and off the field while winning games and helping children here and abroad.
