On February 1, 2013, The Hamels Foundation celebrated the grand opening of its office and retail store on the Main Line. Cole and Heidi Hamels hosted friends and foundation sponsors for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at their new Bryn Mawr location, which will sell Phillies merchandise and autographed memorabilia in addition to boutique items like jewelry and baby gear.

Now that Cole Hamels has signed on long term with the Phillies some of the plans that The Hamels had on hold are starting to take shape like establishing a permanent office in the area, with a retail store to raise funds for all the good works they do plan to do through

There’s a sporty new addition to the retail shopping scene in downtown Bryn Mawr: the Hamels Foundation. Painted Phillies’ red and open to shoppers on weekdays, the store sells an array of signed memorabilia, gifts and Phillies gear – all donated by pitching ace Cole Hamels and his wife, Heidi, to raise money for their charitable foundation.

Cole and Heidi Hamels, recently named Humanitarians of the Year by the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association for their work with their Hamels Foundation, on Friday celebrated the opening of their foundation's new home on Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr.

The Roots will perform their own set and also back Naughty By Nature at the annual Roots Picnic, June 1 at Festival Pier. Last year's event was two days long, but this year's is one day solidly packed with an eclectic lineup. Artists include Gary Clark Jr., Grimes, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Solange (aka Beyonce's sister and star of "Bring it On: All or Nothing") How to Dress Well, the Gaslamp Killer and more.

Cole Hamels on prime-time TV in mid-October - nothing new there. Only this year the Phillies’ homegrown ace isn't trying to pitch his team to a National League pennant. He'll be appearing with wife Heidi on Bravo's "Life After Top Chef" tonight at 10 p.m. In the episode, the ace and his wife will be seen cooking with Philly native and former "Top Chef" contestant Jennifer Carroll, who cooked at a Hamels Foundation fundraiser in April. Ryan Howard, Jonathan Papelbon, Kyle Kendrick, and former Phil Shane Victorino attended the taping and are expected to be seen in the episode.

Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and wife, Heidi , announced yesterday that their Hamels Foundation will award more than $90,000 to Philadelphia public schools. The largest grant, $50,000, went to Alexander Wilson Elementary in Southwest Philadelphia, where the announcement was made. The school will use the funds to build a new playground.

The Morton School is a proud recipient of both a music grant, as well as a school improvement grant from The Hamels Foundation ($5,000 in both 2009 and 2010).

The Hamels Foundation donated $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks. Big Brothers Big Sisters received a check from Cole and Heidi Hamels on Dec. 3 at Diamond in the Rough, a charity poker tournament and casino night sponsored by the Hamels Foundation.

Phillies stars Cole Hamels and Shane Victorino will highlight the second annual JCC Sports Award Dinner on Monday, Apr. 4 at the Katz JCC. The event, presented by Sun National Bank and open to the community, will feature Hamels and Shane Victorino as this year’s keynote speakers. Suarez was a second-team all-conference pitcher as a senior for Eastern, then enjoyed a monster summer during which he helped Gibbsboro's Senior American Legion team finish second in the state, earning a berth in the Northeast Region in Middletown, Conn. Suarez, a righthander who struck out 10 in six-plus innings of a state tournament win for Gibbsboro over Hamilton, didn't pitch in the regionals because of a sore elbow. But later in August he was knocked out of the batter's box by the news that he had leukemia.

Checkbook figuratively in hand, Phillies ace Cole Hamels visited a Northeast Philadelphia high school this morning to find his presence was welcome almost as much as his money. The former World Series MVP joined his wife Heidi in donating a total of $200,0000 to 17 Philadelphia public schools through their charity foundation. Swenson Arts and Technology High School, which the couple visited this morning, received $50,0000 for a new fitness center. The school is currently using a section of its auto shop as a makeshift gym. "It's just the way I was brought up," said Hamels, whose parents are educators in his native California. "It's all my parents ever asked of me - just to be a good example."
