Just a couple months ago, on June 1st, The Hamels Foundation presented a check to Bayard Taylor Elementary School $300,000 for a complete outdoor renovation. For over 100 years, this area used to look like an empty parking lot and now, there is a state of the art playground by Kompan, a greenhouse with raised bed garden by Rock N' Renew (sponsored by Olitsky Family Foundation), an iPad/Tech learning center (sponsored by Wells Fargo), a chess/checker station (also sponsored by Wells Fargo), a soccer field, and so much more (with the help of Ransome CAT)! The Hamels Foundation has given Bayard Taylor Elementary School in North Philadelphia a $300,000 grant for an interactive playground and learning center. On August 8th, Greater Media of Philadelphia will stand along side Cole and Heidi Hamels and 120 other volunteers to put the finishing touches on this dream learning enviroment. On June 1st, 2012, The Hamels Foundation presented a $300,000 check to Principal Drossner at Bayard Taylor Elementary. With this grant, The Hamels Foundation will provide an educational play yard that is both sustainable and environmentally green. For over 100 years, the students of Bayard Taylor have played and exercised in an area that looks similar to an empty parking lot. Our goal is to renovate this space to teach lessons in technology, science, physical education, and teamwork by including a chess/checker station, an iPad/Tech learning center, a greenhouse, a playground, and more. On Friday, February 17, The Hamels Foundation presented a grant totaling $50,000 to the Eldon, MO School District to help complete the construction of their new sports complex!
